Definition: socially equitable climate action / Sozial gerechter Klimaschutz

The following definition of socially equitable climate action (in English and German) was developed for the INCLU:DE project.

Just and inclusive municipal climate action fosters the recognition, inclusion and empowerment of all local residents, with a special focus on marginalised communities. Cities committed to this approach acknowledge existing spatial, social and demographic inequalities and aim to implement climate measures that benefit everyone directly.

Sozial gerechter kommunaler Klimaschutz fördert die Anerkennung, Einbeziehung und Befähigung aller Bewohner*innen einer Stadt, insbesondere auch benachteiligter Gruppen. Städte, die sich diesem Ansatz widmen, erkennen bestehende räumliche, soziale und demographische Ungleichheiten an und entwickeln Klimamaßnahmen, die allen direkt zugutekommen.
