The transition towards climate neutrality requires more than technological shifts, it is a social endeavour as well. Through the INCLU:DE project, ICLEI and partner cities are exploring how to make climate action more inclusive, practical, and fair.
Throughout the project, it has become apparent that community collaboration plays a crucial role in aligning climate goals with local realities and ensuring that the benefits of climate action reach all, particularly communities that have historically been underserved.
This blog post discusses strategies cities are using to ensure municipal climate actions are co-created with local communities, particularly those that are often overlooked. It shows how this expands the impact beyond CO2 emission reduction alone - serves strengthen social wellbeing, improve affordability and mobility, and enhance everyday living conditions.
